Kia ora,
It’s been an exciting start to the year here at EdTechNZ. I’d like to introduce our two new co-chairs, Amy Bucher, Head of Education Products at ADInstruments, and Jude Hadfield, Managing Director of the New Zealand entity at TTRO. We’re very excited to have such powerful women join the leadership team and support our Deputy Chair, Alana Pellow, and Executive Director, Alison Mackie in our 2023 initiatives. We express our absolute gratitude to Evo Leota-Tupou, who has stepped down as our co-chair to lead our awareness work within the Executive Council.
Last week, our Executive Director, Alison Mackie, had the opportunity to sit alongside Anna Burns-Francis on the TVNZ Breakfast show to discuss how to trust our children online and how to keep our children’s digital devices safe.
I’m sure you’ve also seen a lot of discussion online and among your peers about Chat GPT and how artificial intelligence is taking over the tech space. We’ve been having similar conversations here at EdTechNZ on how this could impact education. We’re hosting a webinar on Artificial intelligence and the impact on education today at 12pm. This topic of education and innovative technology was also spotlighted in the recent research brief by NZCER, Teacher experiences working in Innovative Learning Environments (ILEs). This research brief surveyed teachers within secondary schools, and highlights the importance of supporting teachers when responding to pedagogical challenges related to working in an innovative learning environment.
