Executive Council Announced, AGM Update and more!

#

EdTechNZ has just completed our second annual election of our Executive Council. Congratulations go out to returning council members: Annabel Robertson from Education New Zealand, David Glover from Unitec, Shane Kerr from Shane Kerr Consulting and Truman Pham from The Mind Lab. We’d also like to welcome Matthew McCulloch from AWS – it’s great to have you as part of the team Matthew.

We do have one departing council member, Anne Taylor, and I would like to thank her for her contribution and efforts during her tenure and wish her all the best in her new role at Microsoft as APAC Education Skills Lead. Thanks of course also go out to the entire Executive Council for their hard work over the last year or so through what has been challenging times for everyone.

AGM Update
We also held our AGM at the conclusion of the election process and laid out our plans for the next 12 months. As always, our strategy is aligned to EdTechNZ’s core purpose as well as our overarching strategic framework of: CONNECT, PROMOTE and ADVANCE. Our three key areas of focus will be:
1. member value – continual improvement of member value to grow resources
2. supporting growth – help EdTech companies connect and grow
3. helping Government –helping Government to understand the EdTech opportunity.

To achieve this, we plan on running a number of events (in person where possible), kicking off in Nov and Dec 2020 with in-person meetup events in AucklandWellington and Christchurch. More will follow in the new year, so watch this space.

EdTech ecosystem and initiatives
We are starting work to map out the New Zealand EdTech ecosystem. This will underpin several of our initiatives and allow us to better connect to key stakeholders and provide them with the help and guidance that our members have told us that they desire. If you want to be included in this, please let us know by emailing info@edtechnz.org.nz.

Work is also underway with both Education New Zealand and the Ministry of Education on how we might better work with them to help grow the EdTech sector in NZ and showcase this to New Zealand and the world
